In cooperation with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Digital Frontiers Institute, we are excited to participate in the IIPS (Instant and Inclusive Payment Systems) certification program. IIPS is an online learning platform established to accelerate the development of instant and inclusive payment systems and expand the base of professionals trained in IIPS implementations worldwide. ModusBox was instrumental in the design, development, and implementation of Mojaloop – the world’s first open source software for interoperability in real-time payment systems. And our digital payment experts will deliver course content as part of our mission to “improve lives by accelerating universal access to reimagined financial services.” Here’s a little more about the program, how to get started, and what you’ll learn about instant and inclusive payment systems.

How to get started

Practitioners are encouraged to start by enrolling in and completing the Introduction to Instant and Inclusive Payments course. This 5-module introductory session will prepare students for the online proctored test – IIPS Foundations Exam.  Upon successful completion of the exam, students will be given a 100% scholarship to attend the Business, Regulatory, or Technology track for more specialization in their chosen area.

What you’ll learn in the technology track

Each track will be guided by subject matter expert coaches from their respective fields. Industry professionals from ModusBox will primarily provide course content in the Designing and Deploying Technology for IIP Systems track. This curriculum is a paced, 9-module online technical course taking place over a 6-week schedule.

While the course may be technical in nature, it is suitable for anyone responsible for designing IIP scheme components, providing business requirements to the development team, designing interoperable and inclusive technical architecture, and those integrating with an IIPS system.

The goal of this course is to equip students with the knowledge to answer these questions:1

  • How should I approach an IIPS technology program?
  • What are the building blocks of an IIPS solution?
  • How do I ensure my IIPS solution design covers all the bases?
  • What can I do to future-proof an IIPS solution?
  • What deployment architecture would best service my IIPS?
  • How do I ensure constant alignment between the technology domain and business?
  • How should I approach the design of my IIPS solution?
  • What are the launch readiness steps I should follow?
  • How do I cater for continuous improvement?

What’s next?

The Designing and Deploying Technology for IIP Systems course is offered twice a year. Check the IIPS website for the most up-to-date course schedule. We are excited to be part of this initiative and how it will increase the number of inclusively-minded payment system professionals in the industry.
